I’ve been spending my free time over the last few days rebuilding the website. Currently I do not like it as much as the original website. But here are the main reasons for the change:
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) – this refers to how well Google can see my website. I need more exposure.
WordPress – I needed something that was easier to manage the blog.
Blog subscription – visitors to my site can now sign up to receive email notifications whenever I post a new blog entry.
Storefront – I can now sell artwork through my website.
I obviously don’t have a lot of artwork to sell at the moment, but the plan is to start some ads in one or two high-profile magazines and run them for a minimum of 2 years. It’s going to be expensive, but that should help with getting noticed. And by the time I start getting noticed, I should have a good amount of artwork ready to put in the store for sale. All the originals will be available, and I also plan to have prints ready to sell as well.
So even though there are things about this new website that I don’t like as much, the benefits outweigh the cons.
