FINE ART IS THE GOAL

Not much to report lately. I sold some things on eBay to help pay for the upcoming trip to Seattle. Suzie called today to let me know she got one of my drawings framed. I’ll probably go pick it up tomorrow. I have another pencil portrait I need to start and also a logo design. I try to stay away from the graphic design stuff, but the client on this one wants a more artistic style design, so I think it will be fun.

A lot of people actually do not know that graphic design and fine art are two totally different things. I do not consider myself much of a graphic designer, although I do have graphic design skills. I just prefer to pursue fine arts.

I started this new venture with the intent to focus more on drawings and fine art paintings. However I am finding myself doing more and more work that is outside that original intent, and I am concerned that I’m going to get pulled away from what I really would like to do. The part of me that is letting myself get pulled away is the part that is worried about financial stability. Not knowing how much I’m going to make each month has got me saying yes to more and more jobs, and those jobs are taking time away from drawing and painting. It’s good to have work, though. I will probably start assigning myself a few days each week to devote strictly to drawing and painting.
