AIR TRAVEL WITH PAINTS

My class in Seattle is still a month away. I have purchased all the supplies needed and spent the morning figuring out the best way to pack them for the trip. I guess you could say I want to be prepared and ready to go. I have already looked online to see that other artists say not to bring Gamsol or linseed oil on planes since it will most likely get confiscated. I emailed the instructor this morning to see if those items can be purchased at the Academy before class starts.

My biggest fear is the paints. I have read that two trigger words for the TSA are “oil” and “paint”. So I am supposed to refer to my paints as “Artist Colors”. I have printed out health data sheets on the paints just in case, and I have a printout of the class itinerary and supply list. I would be devastated if I was checking my bag for this awesome life event and they took away my paints.

Next I’m going to see if I can fit a week’s worth of clothes in the same suitcase (I doubt I can).
